About the Kaleidoscope Discovery Center

We chose our name because when you look through a kaleidoscope and view the image, then twist and move the lens, you view the same things but differently.  When you experience the hands-on activities of The Kaleidoscope Discovery Center you will begin to view the same things differently.  You will begin to see the gears on a bicycle, water running down the stream and its effect on the environment and the world around you through the lens of ESTEAM.

Our Vision

is for our community to create a fun and interactive service center where people are inspired to imagine a universe of endless possibilities!

Our Mission

is to provide opportunities that advance the understanding and appreciation of: engineering, science, technology, the environment, arts and math (ESTEAM); through hand’s on learning experiences, which inspire everyone to imagine, explore and create a better world.

The Kaleidoscope is a proud member of the Association of Children's Museums

The Association of Children’s Museums (ACM) is the world’s foremost professional member service organization for the children’s museum field. With more than 400 members in 48 states and 20 countries, we leverage the collective knowledge of children’s museums through convening, sharing, and dissemination.

No Walls, Walls, No Walls!

Thank you to everyone in the community who supported us in our earlier “without walls” phase, some of these hosts include Christ Episcopal Church, Missouri S&T, Rolla Public Library, St. James Library, and Salem Lutheran Church.  In order to support the needs of our region during the Covid-19 pandemic, the Kaleidoscope is once again “without walls” focusing on partnering with area schools and agencies to increase STEM programming during this uncertain time.

Staff Opportunities

We have numerous volunteer opportunities.  If you are interested in getting involved, please email us at info@thekaleidoscope.org or give us a call at: 1-573-308-9082.
