 Fall Programs

Our board and volunteers have been very busy preparing for a most exciting fall season with our first annual fundraiser, and both the robotics and Future City seasons starting!

First Lego League (FLL)

Registration is currently open for FIRST Lego League teams for 1st – 8th grade students!  Through generous outreach funding from the Missouri S&T INSPIRE UTC and the Missouri Space Consortium grants our teams and members are subsidized to make this STEM outreach affordable without the additional cost of purchasing new robots.  We anticipate considerable participation this year as teams can work in small groups and all activities can be done in a home setting, if necessary.  The Kaleidoscope has been supporting FIRST Lego League programs in our region since 2012 – almost ten years!  The Cargo Connect theme is timely as online purchase delivery logistics have come to the forefront.

Future City

Future City team registration is also open!  After Missouri’s team placed THIRD nationally with the “Living on the Moon” theme, the competition is tooling up for a “Waste-Free City” with a focus on developing circular economies.  This program is open to all 6th-8th grade students in the state.  We are looking forward to the creative solutions our Missouri students will come up with on this exciting topic!

Night of Magic

Tables are selling for our Night of Magic which is set for October 2nd from 6-10pm at the Lion’s Club Den in Rolla! Kevin Spencer will be sharing his passion for magic education!  He is an educator, artist, consultant, and cultural entrepreneur, and works to create inclusive communities where everyone experiences an authentic sense of belonging and no one – for any reason – is relegated to the margins. You can read more about Kevin on his website.

This event will be our biggest fundraiser of the year and enable us to continue our mission of providing opportunities that value science, technology, engineering, arts, and math (STEAM) through hands-on learning, encouraging imagination, exploration, and creation influencing a brighter tomorrow.
