On February 2nd, Scouts from all over will be coming to the Missouri S&T campus for a merit badge university where they will have chosen from 28 different merit badge classes or our brand new “Jump Start” program. Our “Jump Start” program has been designed to help those who are new to the scouting program hit the ground running in their scouting careers. The first hour of that program is free and open to anyone interested in the program, and will help parents and scouts alike understand the basics of scouts and how to find out more information. Then those who are joining the scouting program will learn all about the “journey to Eagle” , the rank advancement process in the scouting program. They will also have the opportunity to earn a merit badge and complete several requirements for their first few rank advancements. While this program is particularly geared towards girls joining, especially those who are older and have a time crunch on achieving the rank of Eagle, it is open to all potential and new scouts. Preregistration is required for the merit badges, and recommended for the Jump Start Program, but walk-ins will be welcome for the Jump Start program. There will be a fee for lunch for those who stay for the duration of the event, but as mentioned the first hour is free and open to all who are interested in learning more. We expect around 300 scouts and scouters to be in attendance and we are excited for the opportunity to help the youth learn and grow in the Scouting BSA program.
